A method for determining the amount of water-soluble sodium as sodium oxide (Na2O) and potassium as potassium oxide (K2O) in coal samples is described in the ASTM D8010-18 standard. The outcomes of this test procedure are used to determine whether boiler tube fouling and furnace corrosion problems are likely.
