The safety standards for shearer loaders, plough systems, and other equipment used in underground mining operations are outlined in the DIN EN ISO 19225 standard. These devices are in charge of cutting surrounding rock and minerals at various heights, including coal, ore, salt, and adjacent minerals. The standard is applicable to both fixed and adjustable-height equipment that is transported on conveyors with armored faces or their add-ons.
The machines' control systems, directing systems, and haulage components are all covered by the safety criteria. Shearer loaders have built-in haulage systems and can be operated manually, remotely, or by a computer program. On the other hand, plow systems can only be controlled remotely.
The standard also covers shearer loaders that are located close to the machines using wireless remote control devices. A revised Annex A of the standard also provides a noise test code that conforms with the demands of the EU machinery directive.
